This is very surprising, I have had a Microsoft Account of some sort for years, in fact for over 12 years and I do not remember many times when I have not been able to get access to my email. However when I went to check my email tonight before I wet to bed I got this message after signing in. “Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook right now” followed by two status messages. ” We’re having a problem accessing email. You might not be able to see all your email messages. We’re working to restore service right now. Mar 12 2:35 PM” and an update “Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped. We’ll provide an update by Mar 13 2:12 AM. We apologize for the lengthy interruption in service. Mar 12 10:13 PM ”
This is rare in my experience and this only seems to be affecting Outlook and Hotmail. You can check out the status page https://status.live.com/detail/Outlook I am able to still get email though the email app on my Windows Phone so that is not affected just the web interface. Maybe this had something to do with this months Patch Tuesday, maybe a server or two did not update correctly and went down, I don’t know probably not as Microsoft has a lot of servers for Hotmail and Outlook. I hope Microsoft gets this resolved soon and I know they will.
UPDATE: Microsoft did get the issue resolved, apparently their servers had major issues though. looks like everything is working now.
I should note this is for Outlook.com and not Outlook the email client that is part of Microsoft Office.
